I know these are very uncertain times. The closure of schools in England and the cancellation of GCSE and A Level exams in the UK, have left our students feeling confused and uncertain. A number of scenarios are being explored with the various examination authorities.
Assemblies have been held with our senior students and our advice to them, to stay focused and work hard until we know more, has been taken to heart. I am very proud of each and every one of them.
Head Teachers and members of the Department of Education, Sport and Culture are all working closely together to ensure that students will not be disadvantaged with regards to their examination grades. For those planning to go to university, our Sixth Form team members are in regular contact with the University and College Admissions Service (UCAS).
There is a lot of work going on in the background and I must acknowledge the tremendous efforts of staff, who are preparing for a range of eventualities. Their dedication to our students is humbling and much appreciated.
As soon as we have definitive answers, I will be in touch with you.
Until then, to each and every one of you, stay safe and stay well.
