It is with regret that I have to inform you the Year 11 Academic Tutoring day, scheduled to take place on the 9th December, will have to be cancelled. Despite our best efforts, we have not been able to come up with a solution that will allow the event to run in the midst of industrial action.
I appreciate many of you will be extremely disappointed that you are unable to visit school to discuss your child’s progress at such a crucial time. Please be assured that we will do our utmost to relay any important information to you in the coming months.
On a separate note, the Year 11 mock examinations will take place between the 11th and the 15th of January. Students will receive an exam timetable in the coming weeks and teachers will let them know what they need to study in preparation for them.
We have made the decision to continue with mock examinations because they will provide the school with firm evidence of student performance under exam conditions. In addition, this may be a requirement of any examination boards who cancel written papers in the summer. We honestly do not know if this will be the case or not and we are taking a cautious approach until we receive definitive guidelines.
Please accept my apologies for any upset the cancellation of Academic Tutoring may cause you. Let us hope that a resolution to the dispute is arrived at soon.
With kind regards,
