Dear parents and carers,
I am writing as the official Leavers Day for our Year 11 students is just around the corner on 24th April. Although this is the formal leaving ceremony, please be aware that lessons will continue after this date and students are expected to attend to support their examination preparation.
The mock exams yielded some very positive data, and the results are indicative of the hard work our Year 11 students have put in over the past four and a half years. Whilst we will do all that we can to ensure students are fully prepared for the summer exams, it is vitally important that revision is completed at home. This should include the completion of past paper questions. Extra work put in now will, without doubt, help students to fulfil their potential.

Year 11 students that would like help from peers with very recent experience of successfully passing their GCSEs are welcome to attend. The focus will be on exam technique, not teaching of content, and Mr Karran will post information about subjects and rooming in due course.
Leavers' Assembly
The leaver assembly will take place on the afternoon of the 24th April. Students will be permitted to leave school once the assembly has finished. The assembly will last for approximately 1 hour during which time students will be presented with their Achievement Folders. Students that wish to get a shirt signed must bring a spare.
Year 11 Prom – 2nd of July, Villa Marina
The Yr 11 Prom will be held on the 2nd of July at the Villa Marina. Arrivals begin from 6:30pm, and the doors will close promptly at 7:00pm. The event will conclude at 10pm.
Year 11 Hoodies
Students will be allowed to wear their leavers hoodies in school, in place of a blazer, from Monday 20th April. All other aspects of their uniform should be worn including a tie and lanyard.
Exam Information
Summer 2026 external written examinations begin on the 5th May, however, some practical examinations and controlled assessments are already underway.
The summer examinations are overseen by external invigilators and examination board guidance must be followed. In respect of this, reminders about exam hall conduct have been posted to students on the Year 11 Google Classroom. The last GCSE exam will take place on Tuesday 16th June.
Students are required to wear full school uniform (no hoodies) for all examinations including those that take place during the TT period. Those not wearing the correct uniform will be sent home to change before being allowed to sit their exams. Whilst we do not envisage any issues, we feel we should make it clear to parents that the following actions are considered by examination boards as candidate malpractice and could jeopardise the awarding of qualifications:
- A breach of the instructions or advice of an invigilator, supervisor, or the awarding body in relation to the examination or assessment rules and regulations.
- Disruptive behaviour in the examination room or during an assessment session (including the use of offensive language).
- Behaving in a manner so as to undermine the integrity of the examination.
- Any use of unauthorised electronic devices including phones, air pods or other headphones and smart watches.
Further information can be found here: https://bhs.sch.im/pages/index/view/id/17/Exam%20I...
We would like to take this opportunity to wish all students the very best of luck with the impending examinations.
Exam Timetables
Provisional exam timetables have already been issued to students are available to view via schoolworkspace.co.uk. Please note that any clashes that appear will be resolved in due course. Please also be aware that SQA examination timetables will be issued separately.
GCSE Results Day - Thursday 20th August
Results will be issued from 9am onwards in the Sixth Form centre.
Students who have provided written permission for their results to be e-mailed will receive them on the afternoon of the 20th August.
Cambridge GCSE results will be available to access online on Tuesday, August 18th from 5am. Students will need a password to log on to the results platform, and this will be issued prior to the end of the summer term. It is important that students keep this information safe as they will not be able to request a copy of their log-in details once the school closes for the summer. Please note that staff will not be available in school to provide any advice or support until the remainder of the results are issued on the 20th August.
With kind regards,
Miss Burden Head of Year 11
