27th April 2026

Dear Parent/Carer,

Working with University College IOM, we have the opportunity for Year 10 students to experience a Taster Morning at UCM on Tuesday 9th June 2026.

Students will come to school as normal in full school uniform including lanyards, which must be worn at UCM. They will register as usual before attending an assembly in the Old Canteen and will leave school at 9.15am on private hire buses. There will be a walk between UCM and the bus stop. School and UCM staff will accompany them for the duration of the visit.

Students will return to school by private hire bus at 12pm and will return to their lessons upon arrival back in school.

Over the course of the day, students will be able to experience two taster sessions, which they will choose in advance from: Art & Design; Animal Management; Beauty Therapy; Business & Business Enterprise; Catering, Hospitality & Food Service; Construction & Horticulture; Construction – Architecture & Surveying; Early Years Education; Engineering; Forensic Science & Science; Hairdressing & Barbering; Health & Social Care; Digital Information Technology; Creative Media Production & Technology; Motor Vehicle, Sport. They will also meet with the Student Services Team.

As we will be in an educational environment, excellent behaviour is essential. Failure to comply with BHS and UCM behaviour expectations may mean that students could be sent home from UCM.

If your child would like to attend the taster morning, please could you complete the Taster Session Consent and choices for your child via this link Parent / Carer Consent for an Educational Visit (Form C) - UCM Taster Day – Fill in form by Tuesday 5th May 2026. Please note that any applications to attend which are received after the deadline will not be accepted.

Students not attending the Taster Morning will remain in school and attend their usual lessons.

Yours faithfully
Mrs F Roome
