Students from Ballakermeen High School’s Chinese exchange partner, No. 1 High School, Liuyang, visited the Isle of Man between 27th June 27 - 5th July. Whilst here they enjoyed staying with our Mandarin students’ families, and joining in on cultural visits to different parts of the Island, including the Laxey Wheel, and in school lessons, including Art.

On Friday 3rd July both sets of students and teachers attended a reception and information giving session at Douglas City Council. Thank you to The Worshipful the Mayor of Douglas City Council, Mr Councillor Steven Crellin, JP for giving up his time, his warm words and for permitting students to wear the chain of office and hold the mace for photographs.

This was the first leg of our annual exchange agreement. Students who study Mandarin in Years 9, 10 and 12 will be visiting China in October!
