Following an exciting day of competition, we are delighted to announce the results of the knockout stages of our 2026 Chess Tournament.
Congratulations to Timothy in Year 10, who was crowned this year's Chess Champion! As the overall winner, Timothy receives a beautiful £130 mahogany chess board and will have his name engraved on the prestigious BHS Legacy Shield - a fantastic achievement. Timothy credits part of his success to his lucky coin!
Second place went to Ethan C in Year 8, while Ethan G and Aditya, also in Year 8, were our joint semi-finalists.
One of the highlights of the day was the thrilling semi-final between Timothy and Aditya, which proved to be the closest and most exciting match of the tournament.
Well done to all 100+ students from Years 7 - 10 who took part. From the morning league matches through to the afternoon knockout rounds, the standard of play, strategic thinking and sportsmanship on display was outstanding.
A huge thank you to Mr Klimach for organising another fantastic tournament, and to the Ballakermeen High School Association (our PTA) for generously supporting this year's prizes.
