This week, some of our brilliant Year 9 Geography students put their learning into action by designing and building earthquake-proof structures… using spaghetti and marshmallows!

Using their prior knowledge of earthquake-resistant features like wide bases for stability, cross-bracing for strength, and flexible materials to absorb shock - they worked in teams to create some truly impressive models.

The classroom was buzzing with creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving as students tested their designs against 'simulated tremors' (the teacher shaking them...) We were so impressed by how well they worked together, sharing ideas and supporting each other throughout the challenge.

A wonderful way to finish for half term - well done Year 9!
