Data Collection Form

All students entering Year 12 (both internal and external applicants) are required to complete a Data Collection Form to ensure that personal information is accurate and up-to-date. The online link to this form will be provided to you following GCSE results day.

Please take particular care to ensure that email addresses are entered correctly, as all school communication is sent via email and is essential for keeping parents and guardians informed.

Please also ensure that all medical conditions are clearly listed on the form. If you would like to arrange an appointment to discuss a medical condition or specific requirements in more detail, please contact the school office on 648700.

Important: External applicants may not be able to start Sixth Form until the completed Data Collection Form has been received.

If there are any changes to a student's information during the school year - such as a change of address, phone number, or updated medical details - please notify us as soon as possible by emailing: sixthform.bhs@sch.im.

Private Study

During private study periods, students may work in the three Sixth Form study areas available:

  • Red Zone – for silent, individual study
  • Amber Zone – for small group work, where quiet discussion is permitted
  • Green Zone – for collaborative group work, where a higher level of noise is acceptable

Students must register for afternoon private study sessions (period 7) before heading to their chosen work area. This register usually takes place during the Amber zone (unless exams are taking place).

Students are not permitted to leave school during private study periods. Students may leave the school site at break and lunchtimes. Those wishing to leave site for any other reason must pass through the Sixth Form office, and must not leave site without signing out.

Sixth Form lessons are not covered by substitute teachers (except in long-term circumstances). In the event a subject teacher is absent, students should register for their lesson at the Sixth Form office by signing their name on a piece of paper for Miss Firth, and then attending private study. Failure to do so may result in the School contacting home as per the usual absence procedure.

Communications

Students, parents, and carers with Sixth Form enquiries should contact Miss Firth at sixthform.bhs@sch.im in the first instance. Miss Firth will either respond directly or refer the enquiry to the appropriate member of the Sixth Form team.

Students are welcome to visit the Sixth Form office to speak with a member of staff; however, availability cannot be guaranteed. Those wishing to meet with a specific member of the team are advised to arrange an appointment in advance via email.

Communication with students is primarily through Google Classroom for daily notifications, updates, and other information, as well as via Google email accounts. Any student who is not currently part of the relevant Google Classroom should inform the Sixth Form team.

Private tutors

Students who wish to leave the site during school hours to attend a private lesson with a tutor must first seek permission from Mr Karran.

A request must be submitted via email by a parent or guardian, specifying:

  • The time the student will be leaving school
  • The estimated time of return

If approved, this information will be recorded on the student’s attendance record. Students must sign out and sign back in at the Sixth Form office when leaving and returning to school.

In the event that a private lesson is cancelled, students must inform the Sixth Form office that they are remaining in school.

Lockers

Lockers are available to purchase for a one-off fee of £5 via ParentPay. Once payment has been made, please see Miss Firth in the Sixth Form office to be assigned your locker and key.

Please note: Replacement keys will incur a charge of £5 if lost.

ParentPay

All payments should be made electronically via ParentPay. Cash and cheques are not accepted at the school foyer or canteen.

  • Enables you to pay for school meals, replacement smartcards and lanyards, prom tickets, school trips, etc.
  • Offers a highly secure payment site
  • Gives you a history of all the payments you have made

If you require any assistance with ParentPay, please contact: bhsenquiries@sch.im.

Smart-cards & Lanyards

Year 12 students will have their school photograph taken in early September, which will be printed on their smart-cards. These photographs will be available to purchase from Andrew Barton Photography.

All Year 12 students will be issued with a Sixth Form lanyard and smart-card, free of charge. Replacement smart-cards can be purchased at a cost of £5.00 via ParentPay. Replacement lanyards are £1 each.

Lanyards are a required part of the Sixth Form dress-code.
